Multi-sensory room

In February our multi-sensory room was newly decorated. It now has grass flooring, two large beanbags and a projector screen for sensory films. We are very lucky to have this new space in our school. The boys love the multi-sensory room even more now!

Christmas time

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Merlin Woods Primary School and the boys in The Wise Oaks Class have been busy preparing for this special time of year. We had a visit from Santa last week. We've done Christmas art and cooking  and also have been busy practising for our Christmas performances! Here are some pictures of us enjoying the Christmas festivities! 

Our trip to the sensory cinema

In November we went to the IMC cinema in town to see the movie 'Storks'. We went on the bus to the cinema. We had popcorn and a drink of water. We had great fun!

Our Autumn Nature Walk

We are learning about the changes that happen in nature during Autumn. We went on a nature walk to Merlin Woods to see some of these changes in our local area. We found blackberries, different colour leaves, apples on trees and pine cones. We were lucky with some lovely Autumn weather too! 

Incredible Edibles

This week we completed Agri Aware's Incredible Edibles Programme in the Wise Oaks Classroom. In April we planted the five fruits and vegetables that are part of this programme. We planted potatoes, strawberries, lettuce, turnips and carrots. We have watered them and watched them grow since then. Our school garden is now blooming! As part of this programme we learned about what happens to potatoes and how they get from the farm to the shop and then onto our dinner plates at home. We have cooked with potatoes and strawberries on a number of occasions in our classroom this year. Here are some photos of us completing the Incredible Edibles Programme!

Our School Garden

Summer is here and our school garden is beginning to bloom. We have planted many vegetables and flowers and are making sure they are watered to grow. Look how busy we've been working as a team to look after our garden!

Our trip to the cinema

Today we went on a trip to the cinema. Some of the boys went to see Zootropolis and other boys went to see Kung Fu Panda 3. We had popcorn and drinks.
